Review: Marvel Stud10s - Ant-Man (2015) - Marvel Legends The First Ten Years Ant-Man // Yellowjacket

I wasn't expecting much from Ant-Man, it sounds like a silly concept and I just wanted to watch it so I could watch Ant-Man and the Wasp which ties to Avengers: Infinity War. To my surprise I ended up loving the movie. Seriously, I knew very little about Ant-Man, I did however know that he could shrink and I didn't really think of that as a cool superpower even though I have in the past (as a kid) wanted the ability to shrink. Still, I watched it and loved it. I wish I had seen it when it was released in theaters. I did see the 3.75" Ant-Man in stores at FYE long long ago and thought it looked cool but didn't get it.

The box shows everything that is available in this set, unfortunately, you can see you don't get extra hands to go with the figures.
"When the government attempts to seize Hank Pym's particle shrinking technology for use in warfare, Pym trusts in the help of petty criminal Scott Lang to don the Ant-Man suit and strike back against corruption. Geared up as the half-inch hero, Lang must stop Pym industries representative Darren Cross before he sells the shrinking technology to HYDRA and enables them to create a new army of unstoppable, shinkring secret weapons."
And of course it fits with the other boxes being the 7th set in the collection.
The back has a poster of Ant-Man behind Antony. You get bios on Ant-Man and Yellowjacket.
"Scott Lang is enlisted by Hank Pym to suit up as Ant-Man and fight against competing forces intending to use the incredible shrinking Pym Particles for evil."
"The new lead of Pym Industries, Darren Cross threatens to sell his highly weaponized Yellowjacket suit to the criminal organization, HYDRA."
Ant-Man is amazing, I love the designs on his costume and it has the overall shape of the comic helmet. If only he came with the tubes that go from the helmet to the rest of the suit. I do think that the helmet looks a little small if it was an actual helmet for his head. He is hard to stand sometimes because of the shape of his feet but he can do it.
I'm surprised by how small and thin the antenna are, they look fragile but they're quite bendy.
The detailing under the back of the neck can be a little restrictive as well as the shape of the helmet but it works and it looks amazing. I do wish he came with closed fists rather the the strange claw hands he does have. He also has the little buttons that activate his powers sculpted in which is attention to detail!
A Scott Lang head is included which has a slight hit of Paul Rudd likeness in there somewhere but the face looks strange. The eyes are a little small I think. The Ant-Man and the Wasp Ant-Man Scott Lang head looks more like Paul Rudd.
It does look good from certain angles but this isn't the best Marvel Legends head there is.
Another accessory that would have been cool could have been a helmeted head with the face exposed.
As for Yellowjacket I think he's amazing and I'm glad he got a figure because he didn't beforehand... well, kind-off.
The lines and textures on the suit are amazing, however along the upper thighs they restrict the hip movement which is a shame. The backpack is probably the best part of this figure besides the helmet. However there is a little hiccup, the backpack is held by a single round peg that doesn't stick so it moves around very loosely. The claws are articulated as well as the antenna which honestly didn't need to.
He has one closed fist and an open hand which I wish he either had two fists or at least interchangeable hands. And the helmet looks cool, the design kind of makes him look more like a Kamen Rider than a Marvel villain.
The yellow and black colors go well with each other, and overall articulation is very good minus the hips.
It's unfortunate that he doesn't come with a Darren Cross head which could have fit in a generic suited body, even blast effects could have worked with this set.
Once you have both of them together they look so cool. There is one more pair of accessories.
You get a mini Ant-Man and a mini Yellowjacket, you want to be careful with these two because it's going to be easy to lose them.
They came with Marvel Legends Age of Ultron wave Ant-Man, there was one more mini figure in that set which was the ant, it wasn't included here but I wish it was.
They are seriously so small, I think they might be close to the size that he shrinks down to in the film.
As you can see they're not really in scale with the 6" action figures.
I do have a very large penny but they look cool with it. Yellow jacket is in a very dynamic attacking pose, is missing the antenna on the top of the backpack. The yellow on the minifigure make it work.
It would have been cool to get multiple minifigures in different poses.
He does make for some funny displays but the pose that holds doesn't really do much for me. He was supposed to sit on top of the ant that came with the first release of Ant-Man in the Ultron BAF wave.
Ant-Man specifically is incredibly sculpted and detailed but the paint is a little sloppy which is understandable.
You can see the panels along the chest like they are on the figure. Add a little more red and he'll look better.
I love this set, after watching Ant-Man I just needed to have these figures! Especially Ant-Man, he became one of my favorite characters after watching it.
If you can get a Thomas the Tank Engine to go along with these figures you're set. They are kind of hard to find, I used to see them at Wal-Marts and GameStops and I haven't seen them in a while, it's usually Red Skull (which I bought two more), Captain America & Crossbones, or Ultron who end up on clearance. If you can get your hands on these I highly recommend them.
