Reviews: Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame - Marvel Legends Ebony Maw and Thanos (Build-a-Figure)

For the most part, the Endgame Marvel Legends waves have been okay, there are some places that already have wave 2! It would have been much better if more MCU figures were part of the waves but what can you do? Ronin, Captain America, and Ebony Maw were half of the wave and Cap didn't even come with a piece. You got 4 other comic figures with this wave which were also kind of okay but left you wishing for more. I still want to see Avengers: Endgame again before it leaves theaters and their version of the Avengers theme is amazing, especially when you watch that scene.

Ebony Maw

This is Ebony Maw in his Avengers: Infinity War appearance which isn't much different from his Endgame appearance I don't think. Either way, the amount of detail is his outfit is pretty good. He has extremely thin arms so the bicep swivel looks a little strange.
Still, the different textures and his overall monochromatic appearance suits him. Even his "skit" is made out of a soft plastic which allows him to move freely because of the way it's designed.
The face is okay, it's not perfect. I think it's the hair that makes him not look like he did in the movie. He has too little hair, not that he had a ton to begin with but it just looks like a tiny tuft of hair on the back of his skull. His face also doesn't really look like the model they used.
He is quite menacing due to his stature, he'll easily tower over most 6" Marvel Legends figures.
I'm glad we got the hand postures we did because we can recreate a lot of the scenes from the movie.
Unfortunately he didn't come with any accessories at all. A little base would have been cool, one made out of a chunk of concrete or something.
Maybe more gesturing hands would have been cool to have.
His appendages are made out of a soft plastic material. His arms are especially thin so they scare me a little when I try to move them, I'm afraid I'll move him the wrong way and he'll break on me.
The thing that bums me out the most about this figure is the head, it just doesn't look right for some reason. I can't quite put my finger on it but he clearly looks like an Ebony Maw, just not the one from the movie.
With him, the Thanos BAF wave, the Cull Obsidian BAF, the Wal-Mart 2-pack, and this wave you'll have the full Black Order team. They look much more intimidating as a whole with Thanos.

Thanos (Endgame)

This is much more of a Thanos, I think he looks much cooler with the armor. I was really excited to finish this guy, I found most of the wave in one go but the only one I was having trouble finding was Living Laser, I had to order him and another Captain America through Amazon.
Judging from his appearance in the movie, this is incredibly accurate although he's much more accurate to the opening of Infinity War than in Endgame, minus the double bladed sword of course. Although that had been teased since Infinity War.
This version has an Infinity Gauntlet (In the movie he doesn't have an Infinity Gauntlet at all, he does use the Nanotech Gauntlet at the end but that's a right handed one) with all 6 stones. Because of the new sculpt he does have new articulation, the bicep swivel is now on the elbow and there isn't an ankle or waist swivel which is a shame. His skin tone is much closer to that of the Marvel Legends First Ten Years 3-Pack with Doctor Strange and Iron Man Mark L.
I feel eh about this head, I wish he had a more neutral expression, it's nearly identical to the grunting head in the 3-Pack. His head is much much smaller so it can fit into the Helmet without it looking giant. The gold used is alright, it needs a little more paint.
Still, he looks amazing! The glove is identical to the other two. The color is pretty close as well.
He looks imposing and he just looks so much better with the armor.
His right hand isn't a fist, it's a weirdly sculpted grabby hand. And if you have the 3-Pack Thanos you can swap the gauntlet hand to a more relaxed gauntlet hand.
His sword looks completely different from the one in the movie. I didn't notice until the 2nd time I watched Endgame. It doesn't really bother me all that much.
The right hand has gunslinger action and because of the way it's sculpted... it doesn't have much of a grip. Much like the gauntlet hand, you can switch this one with a fist from the 3-pack.
As you can see, he looks visibly smaller but that's okay!
The sculpt does hinder the articulation, especially around the shoulders. The head isn't too bad though.
Like I said before, he's much more of an Infinity War Thanos and I like that.
I always preferred this version of him than the tank top one.
And he'll fit in with your Infinity War figures especially with that Gauntlet.
He doesn't come with any other accessories or alternate heads which sucks.
Again, if you have the 3-pack you can use those heads as extra accessories for this figure.
The helmet is easy to remove, it's made out of a soft plastic, you do have to shave off certain pieces that make it so that it stays on in one place when they put it together.
The helmetless version of him just looks better, the helmet makes him look a little goofy.
He looks more imposing that way.
If you do want a more neutral face with the helmet... you can attempt to put on the helmet but since the head is full size it just looks strange from certain angles.
Still, another great addition to the collection. Hopefully we can get a more accurate version of him released at some point.
This might be last we see of the Mad Titan in all of his MCU glory! It was a good run, especially for the Infinity Stone saga.
I'm looking forward to what the MCU has in store for the future. Spider-Man: Far From Home looks promising so I can't wait until that comes out. These figures aren't too hard to find? I don't know because some Wal-Marts have none of them, and haven't for weeks now and some have enough to build multiple Thanos if you were to buy all of them so happy hunting!
