Review: Marvel Stud10s - Avengers: Infinity War (2018) - Marvel Legends The First Ten Years Iron Man Mark L // Doctor Strange // Thanos

Avengers: Infinity War is such an amazing movie especially with the buildup from the past 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the sequel as well, Avengers: Endgame. As a commemoration for the 10 years of the MCU, Hasbro released a wave of figures based on the films. Not every film of course but 10 of the 20+ movies from the lineup. This set doesn't have new figures but they're repainted, retooled and they look so much better than their previous incarnations.

The back shows the poster for Infinity War, or at least one version of that and a little info and bio on the characters in the lineup.
"A threat has emerged from the cosmos as Thanos, a ruthless warrior, plans to collect all of the infinity stones. Joined by his formidable allies, he will be near-unstoppable at achieving his goal. The Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man must join forces and fight side by side to stop Thanos while the fate of the Earth and the universe lays in the balance."
You get a profile view of Thanos on the sides and the number 10 to finish up the First Ten Years.
With the Build-a-Picture complete, I'm very pleased. It does take up a ton of room so you'll have to clear a lot of space if you want to display it like this. Or you can do it from #1-#10.

Iron Man Mark L (50)

"After being an integral part of the Avengers team from the start, Tony Stark finds himself divided from Earth's Mightiest Heroes. But now, faced with an imminent, deadly threat unlike any he has ever encountered, Stark will be forced to call upon some familiar faces and battle alongside some new allies."
So, Iron Man, we've seen before but this isn't just a re-release it's actually a different figure, mainly with the torso. You still get the same amount of detail. You don't get the diaphragm swivel because of the gimmick here which we'll look at soon.
The head is identical but this one look much better than the other one I have from the Thanos wave.
The back has the switch, if it's on the left it'll be on TRY ME mode and the right is ON.
The arc reactor still has a little bit of paint rather than being just translucent plastic and it does go through well, I wish the eyes lit up as well.
On TRY ME mode it'll light up for about 7 seconds. When it's on, it'll light up for about 20 seconds, if you hold the button it'll just stay on until you press it again to turn it off.
It does make the figure look much cooler even without the swivel, however it would have been nice to have somewhere in there.
As for accessories, he has a pair of fists that still look like bad fists.
Open palms that have pegs holes in the repulsors.
And the light blue translucent repulsors effects and if you can take the picture with the light plastic in front of the light and it adds to the overall picture.
If you have your other Iron Man you can use the effects to peg on the feet since there's peg holes too.
This one is surprisingly taller than the other release. This one would have benefitted from a glossy, metallic red paint instead of the flat red plastic.

Doctor Strange

"As Doctor Stephen Strange get accustomed to his new role as a guardian of the Sanctum Sanctorum and sword protector of the Eye of Agamotto, this Master of the Mystic Arts will soon discover how much further his universe will expand when the cosmos are in jeopardy."
Doctor Strange is amazing, I'm glad to have this figure but there's one major issue that I have with this figure and that is the right arm. They didn't have to sculpt the effect on or they could have even done an alternate arm much like Pepper Potts.
Still, the overall look is good, the face looks like Benedict Cumberbatch in certain angles but it works. It's not perfect by any means but it's good. I do want the first release of this figure and swap some things around.
You can remove the cape, it's held through a peg that you can plug on the back of Stephen Strange.
Oh right, I'm sorry I forgot it's not a cape, it's actually a cloak, or the Cloak of Levitation. It's sculpted in the back and has really nice texture. It is a soft plastic and it can get in the way of the left arm due to the way it's sculpted.
The Eye of Agamotto is okay, it looks pretty good but not prefect, it gets the overall shape and you can see some green for the Time Stone in there.
You do get a couple accessories for Doctor Strange but honestly it's a little underwhelming.
You get an extra left hand and an effect piece that is kinda lazily constructed, he just holds onto it, they should have done what they did with the time effect.
Although it's not removable it does look good, it has a lot of detail and sculpt. I don't believe it has any paint but it works.
You have the left open hand that doesn't do much but even without the other accessories you can get some cool poses.

You also get the larger effect that doesn't have paint but looks good. You get some fiery effects of the side, this one needs the other left hand since this piece has a handle that he just holds. It'll look Strange from any other angle that isn't the front.
With both it looks amazing but it doesn't match, what can you do? I do want the Figuarts, maybe I'll look into that.
Next to Iron Man he looks good, is he officially part of the Avengers?
"The Avengers are brought face to face with the cunning, intelligent, and fierce warlord, Thanos, a ruthless cosmic threat consumed with saving the universe from itself. To stop him, the Avengers must join forces to bring down this villain who will stop at nothing to collect the six Infinity Stones."
This is the much better version of the Build-a-Figure, the just everything about this is so much better.
You do get a little extra painted detail on the front of his shirt which looks good and adds so much more to the figure.
Most of it is pretty much identical minus the paint, the colors match his colors from the movie. The main feature of this Thanos is the two extra heads and the different left hand. For the hand, it's an open hand and it looks good, however the palm and the hinge kind of go out a little too far that it looks strange in certain angles. The joint is also either, really tight or just restricted by the sculpt.
His first head is a very stoic, serious face that actually has a lot of use for a serious face.
The face works for so many different situations, he can look disappointed with this face such as when he was talking to Gamora.
He looks much more imposing and part of me would have liked an additional third head which was the smiling one from the Build-a-Figure but I might just try to repaint it to match this color.
He doesn't need to look angry to look imposing and intimidating, just put this face and he looks like a mad Titan.
The second face is the grunting face which also adds a lot more to the dynamic poses that you can get this figure in. You could do that with the serious face but this one is made for that.
There's so much detail on the face, however! The eyes for both heads are hard to see and don't look great but can't win them all.
You can recreate that scene where he gets killed by Gamora which is always fun, because family.
Compared to the BAF, you can see they're identical for the most part minus the skin tone. The pant's are also different and I think the gold might be a little brighter on the BAF.
Thankfully the hand is removable so you can just use them interchangeably between Thanoses.
It's a good option if you have both, I like the two fists personally but the open hand can come in HANDY.
Just look at him, he does look more square than he does in the movie, not fat but just wide.
He is much taller than the Wal-Mart exclusive Thanos but they have similar accessories.
Interesting transition between the drawings onto the big screen.
I love this figure, there is one that I like more over this one though but I'll get to that soon.
This set helps complete the Infinity War crew of figures that are already out. We need a War Machine Mark 4 soon, there will be an Endgame wave in the fall so hopefully we'll get it then.
Amazing movie, amazing set of figures and although this figure is probably the best version of the character, the Figuarts has more articulation and accessories but if I'm honest, most Marvel Legends faces are leagues better than their import counterparts.
This set should still be easy to find because it's so expensive at $70, the same as the Iron Man 3 set, both having 3 figures each. I got this via GameStop website for about $47? I think? It was much cheaper than if I bought it in store. I bought this one and the Ant-Man 2-pack for about $80 total for both. If you do find this, I suggest getting it or at least get him loose on eBay. Doctor Strange and Iron Man are neat but Thanos just steals the show on this one.
