Review: Power Rangers In Space/Lost Galaxy - Hasbro Lightning Collection Lost Galaxy Red Ranger // In Space Psycho Red Ranger

I had pre-ordered this set at HasbroPulse and it arrived fairly quickly and maybe earlier than the initial release date. It was $39.99 and I believe it's the same everywhere else. I love this set and it was nice to see these two figures. Although I was initially confused as to why they packed these two from different seasons together but a little research showed that they did in fact fight against each other in an episode where they team up with the Space Rangers. I don't really remember that episode but I do remember watching Power Rangers Lost Galaxy when I was a kid. Lost Galaxy was based off of Seijuu Sentai Gingaman which I haven't watched yet but I'll get to it... at some point.

Box is the same ol' packaging that the box sets have. You see everything that is included is visible from here.
There's also an awkward render of the figures. In this case the actual figures look much better.
You get the Galaxy Red Ranger helmet on the right side.
You get Psycho Red on the left side.

Psycho Red Ranger

It's hard to decide between Red Rangers to see which one I like more...
It's the exact same as the Psycho Blue Ranger that I reviewed a couple days ago, the only difference is the red instead of the blue. I do think the red looks a little better.
The helmet is the same, paint looks good and the red is shiny, as all helmets should be.
You get the same amount of accessories.
You get one left fist with painted on silver studs (they're sculpted on too).
You get one right electricity effect which looks amazing!
You get one really cool Psycho Sword which is the main weapon for him.
It's sculpted really well, the guard is a separate piece and not sculpted onto the handle.
I'm surprised it's as thick as it is, it might be a little too thick. I do like the silver fade it has at the top. Unfortunately, he doesn't come with an additional effect piece for his weapon like Blue does.
It looks good with his Blue teammate. These look so much better in this form.
Articulation is the same as before, double jointed elbows and knees, ankle hinge and pin for rocker ankle. Swivel at the pin for the hands and hinge at the wrist.
Swivel and hinge at the shoulders and ball jointed hips. There's also an ab crunch with good range of motion. The head is on a ball joint and hinge but it doesn't go up much.
Having them side by side makes it all look so cool although I'm a little spoiled by having the three Psychos in the Legacy Collection line. I can't wait to finish this team off.

Red Galaxy Ranger

I don't remember much from Lost Galaxy but I remember thinking their suits looked a little silly. I did like their knight swords which I thought were very cool. They reminded me a bit of the Zyuranger suits since they had the silver mouthplates, animal themed helmets, and instead of diamonds in their chest, cuffs, and boots, they had a zig-zag pattern.
The figure is pretty basic, the detail is mostly painted on and it looks very Sentai suit with the seams clearly visible in the suit. Classic Sentai gloves and boots, the belt looks good. For what it is, it looks good. Some suits are more intricate than others and they each have their own charm. He does have a weird posture since the arms don't really get any closer to the body, neither do the legs which is a shame since The Black Series Stormtroopers can, and they have pretty bulky armor on.
The helmet I like although I do think it's a little too round. The mouthplate is also too big and the detail isn't sharp enough. The helmet looks like candy, cherry flavored lollipop if you ask me, I wish it was a little darker.
He does come with his fair share of accessories, you get one right palm and one left fist.
You also get a pair of grabby hands which can also double as claws to do his classic pose.
You get the Quasar Saber in it's holstered form, it's painted gold, black, and white. The blade isn't painted silver unfortunately but it's holstered mostly so it's not like you're going to see it all that often.
You get the full Quasar Saber but it's still a little small, it can be held with both hands still but you don't get a lot for that second hand. He also has enough articulation that it's pretty easy for him to use both hands.
It is nicely painted and it's pretty solid but it'll break if you're not careful.
You also get a Leo head which has a very very slight resemblance to Danny Slavin. It's not perfect honestly, but that's okay.
He looks good with the helmet on the side but I like my Rangers with their helmets on, it is nice to have the option and I wonder if the Battlized version will come with the cracked visor.
He also comes with a flame effect for his sword to represent his finishing move.

The figure as a whole... I love, it's a nice figure with a simple design and it looks fairly realistically proportioned in my opinion.
It's not perfect by any means, if you have him in a vanilla pose he'll look strange.
That's the thing though, most figures look bad in bad poses.
Personally, I'm looking forward to what this line will become in the future.
With the figures using the same base body you can interchange parts, mainly, hands, which is an issue for this line especially because it is a $20 price point collectible line.
You can also get creative with how you use what you're given, although he could have come with a couple more accessories, the ones that he did come with, work.
Seeing the two figures side by side does look pretty cool.
This is something to look forward to when your line doesn't consist of only heroes.
There's so heroes without villains, otherwise you just have a bunch of good guys that stand around.
They do look cool as teams in their team pose or individual role call poses, but having a variety of villains allows for much more display variety.
Not only that but you can recreate scenes from the show and it's satisfying. Honestly, that's what I like about Tokusatsu and why I like collecting live action figures. The spirit of Tokusatsu with their props and most things, especially back then, being very practical in terms of visual effects.
Here's another Red and sixth member together, they look good.
The Magna Defender is next! I'll catch up to the line in no time!
Here's the Reds with their counterparts, Psycho Red is identical to Psycho Blue, and the Red Galaxy Ranger fits in scale with the Red Dino Ranger, it doesn't look like the legs are re-used, they look a little thicker here.
Here's them with Baddies and another Ranger, they're shorter than Lord Zedd and I think he might have more parts in common with the White Ranger.
Psycho Red is also significantly shorter than his Bandai counterpart. He does look much much better.
The sword is also mostly the same but much better. It's not flimsy and the guard is actually there.
This set shouldn't be hard to find in the wild, the place that might have a lot of them is probably GameStop but the price is almost the same, if not exactly the same as it is online at Best Buy and HasbroPulse, $40.00. Good luck and Happy Hunting!
