Review: Marvel Stud10s - Thor: The Dark World (2013) - Marvel Legends The First Ten Years Thor and Sif

Back when I was trying to catch up to Age of Ultron I had to watch two more movies, Captain America: The Winter Solider and Thor: The Dark World. Of course I was really excited to watch Cap 2 and not so thrilled about Thor 2 since it had a pretty bad rep, the worst of the three Thor films. I watched Thor first so I would have fun with Cap afterwards. I was not disappointed, and by that I mean was that I did enjoy The Dark World and I wasn't entirely sure why it was the worst of the three. I liked it and I would watch it again. This set I bought online via Wal-Mart for about $31 only to find it on clearance at a "local" (about 20 minutes away) one for half the price, there were several of these! I should have bought them but more on that later.

The box has Mjolnir as the logo for Thor and it looks cool. Everything that comes in the set is visible through the window and you get the film title from where these characters are from..
You get more artwork from the films and you even see Drax and Groot. You also get a short summary from the movie.

"A legendary warrior, Sif fights alongside Thor in the Marauder's war at the Battle of Vanaheim to regain control of the nine realms. To end the siege, Thor strikes down the giant rock monster. Together, Sif and Thor take the Mauraders prisoner and bring them to Asgard to face justice."

Wait... Marauder or Maurader?
You get bio on Thor and Sif as well as the logo with Jane foster at the front.
The Build-a-Picture is starting to look even more amazing!
You can also display with the numbers showing as well as the summaries on the side.

Thor

"Side by side with his childhood friend, Sif, Thor strikes down the Mauraders on Vanaheim, seeking to bring peace back to the Nine Realms. "

This figure is pretty okay, detailing is nice, paint is good but the cape kills it in a bad way. I hate the cape, it's so solid and heavy it gets in the way. It's made out of a soft plastic that doesn't have much give. And I'll say it now, I hate plastic capes and in general plastic robes and skirts. They're such a pain and they limit articulation. It's the worst especially with caped heroes (I love me some Superman). There is a bit on his torso that isn't painted for some reason, it's strange.
The shoulders are a little tight, it worries me that the joint will snap... I was never Thor's biggest fan, he was always a fish out of water in our world. Chris Hemsworth's Thor however, is the best. I love him as Thor and he makes me like the character a lot more.
This head however doesn't capture Chris Hemsworth's likeness. He looks like Thor but not like Chris playing Thor. The hair does get in the way which is annoying, there isn't much range here.
Mjolnir is included with the rubber strap. It's cast in a silver plastic and you can see marveling on the sides. It's made out of a soft plastic and it warps very easily.
He does look great with some thunder effects but he just looks bleh. The range of motion on the figure is pretty lame and he doesn't look dynamic.
The torso has a cut so it can swivel through the ball joint but you don't get much use from it. If you want you can also slip the hand through the snap so you can have him fly.

 Sif

"A long-time ally of Thor and a powerful Asgardian warrior, Sif battles with a double sword and a keep understanding of her enemies."
Sif's uniform is very intricately designed, I love it. There' a very nice silver paint that's used for the armor. Unfortunately, he armor is not very articulation friendly. The pauldrons are a separate piece so they don't really hinder the shoulder articulation.
The elbows of course are not double hinged but you get an elbow swivel.
The head looks kind of like the very lovely Jaimie Alexander, the very pale face and the jet black hair that's incredibly glossy. She even comes with the mole which is commitment to attention to detail.
The shield has a nice design but incredibly small, not practical.
The sword looks cool although I'm not sure why you get three.
You get the single blade and the shield which you can attach by taking out the hand and then reattaching it.
They both have good detail but the ends are different. I'm not sure why they are cut at a completely different spot from where the single sword would and should be cut at the handle.
They have a solid port that doesn't seem like it'll break (you should be careful)
It looks alright, it's quite long once they're together.
Mine had a slight deffect on the side and I tried fixing it but the joint cracked which is unfortunate. I might try to get another one through ebay.
I liked this set since I didn't have the two figures already. This Thor was the first MCU Thor I've ever had and Sif is a good addition. Now we need the Warriors Three! Hopefully they'll get around to them as well as Malekith. There's so many villains that need to be in the 1/12th scale. It's still relatively cheap online and not too hard to get. I'll get another Sif loose through eBay though.
