Review: Marvel Stud10s - The Avengers (2012) - Marvel Legends The First Ten Years Iron Man Mark 7

Would you believe me if I told you I didn't watch the Avengers until a couple months ago? Actually more like half a year ago at this point. I watched it so I could watch Infinity War, I had to play catch up and prior to watching The Avengers I watched Thor right before it. And I loved it, it was a lot better than I expected and I don't know why I waited 6 years before watching it. I remember the trailers and all the hype leading up to the movie but I just wasn't interested. I did watch all the prerequisites and I wasn't until recently that I realized The Incredible Hulk (2008) was also part of the MCU even though it feels like a sequel to Hulk (2003) which I guess it's a pseudo sequel? Much like Superman Returns (2006) is a pseudo sequel to Christopher Reeve's Superman movies. Anyway, the toyline for The Avengers was out in stores and Wal-Mart Exclusive 6" Figures that had everyone minus Black Widow. I was also when I started reviewing toys online and I saw Deadzilla review Iron Man and I wanted to do the same, unfortunately I wasn't able to find anyone besides Captain America and I would like to get the rest even though they look terrible (kinda). I don't believe Iron Man Mark VII was part of the lineup, instead they released Mark VI sporting a battle damaged paint job.

This was the only figure I was impatient enough to open in the car right after I bought it. I also did find it on clearance for $5 but I didn't jump on it unfortunately. This one, the hip piece is misaligned which makes him look strange and asymmetric.
The box is basic, the Avengers logo everywhere and the panels in the background.
The back is fancy, I love the poster and I had to recreate the scene from the poster. Unfortunately the head that came with Tony Stark from the 01 Iron Man set doesn't fit this figure, ball joint is too high on the neck so it looks strange.

"Equipped with a mighty Vibranium arc reactor and enhanced flight capacities, the Mark VII is a Fully-Loaded Rapid Deployement suit built for heavy combat."

The sides have Legends Series 3 and more frames from The Avengers' movie.

"When the alien Chitauri threaten to destroy New York City, Tony Stark must suit up in his Mark VII Heavy-Combat Armor to launch a nuclear missile at the approaching enemy fleet. Iron Man pushes the suit to its limit. Losing power and crashing to Earth as the Chitauri are disabled and the wormhole is destroyed at last."

You can display the boxes numbered up with a summary from the movies that are relevant to the figure.
Or you can display them to complete the Build-A-Picture which is amazing so far.
I did like this version of the Iron Man suit, however even now they still look the same I guess? There's not a lot of big variations in my opinion but that's just me, if you were to ask me which suit was which I wouldn't be able to unless they really stood out much like the Mark I or Mark II.
The details are great throughout the figure except for the feet, they look like they're on the wrong sides and they point outward even in a neutral stance. The hip piece is misaligned and the arc reactor looks a little bland, it's just painted white. It's very bulky and it looks like it's built for heavy combat.
The helmet is the Iconic Iron Man helmet, it doesn't really change much from suit to suit but the eyes have a light blue outline to give it a glowing effect.
As for accessories he comes with two fists which bend at the wrist. The movement is limited due to the way the fists are sculpted.
He also comes with open hands that have a peg in the center, the hole can be distracting, I wish he came with yet another pair of hands but then you'd have two hands that look nearly identical which doesn't really make sense.
He comes with two translucent orange blast effects that peg in well. They're soft so you wont break them but they are pointy so be careful.
They also peg onto the feet which have detailed threads which is uncommon for a Marvel Legends.
They peg in well and you can open up the flaps on the back to complete the flying look. Since the figure only comes with one pair of blast effects you have to borrow another pair from another Iron Man figure you have laying around.
Overall, this figure is pretty amazing and probably the best in The First Ten Years lineup.
It has the best sculpt and the most playability in my opinion. You can get a lot of dynamic poses with the articulation and the back flaps. I wish the other Avengers from 2012 were released with this quality but c'est la vie non? He should be fairly easy to find and for a cheap price. I unfortunately paid full price ($25) but he was worth it.
