Review: Fantastic 4 - Marvel Legends Doctor Doom (Super Skrull Wave)

This is the best figure in the wave, seriously, I was looking forward to this one as soon as it was announced despite me knowing next to nothing about the character. I did watch Fantastic Four (2005) with Chris Evans as the Human Torch and he was the main villain for that one. He looked okay, but he's always looked better in his comic form, more specifically, his updated look with the evil looking helmet, not the Iron Man, old-school robot looking one. Let's get to it!

Basic box, you get the logo and Doctor Doom at the bottom.
The box art looks okay, it doesn't do the character justice, he looks kinda silly because of the angle.
The box looks good but the lighting is a little strange, makes the forehead of the mask look huge.

"Victor Von Doom uses his incredible intelligence and mystical abilities to oppose the Fantastic Four"

 Doctor Doom

The figure looks pretty new, a brand new sculpt and it's amazing. I like his knight armor that he has throughout the body, the robe and cape have a nice cloth texture throughout it and it looks great up close. You also have the leather straps on the arms and legs that are painted, which is a surprise considering how small they are. The belt looks great with the gold buckle. The chain looks good along the cape but it isn't the best pain-job.
Without the cape he looks even better, there's the thrusters in the back which you can attach the effect pieces to easily.
The modern head looks fantastic! I love the fixed expression he has and with the right lighting he looks amazing! Really menacing! The hood has a nice fixed position and the way it droops in the back looks good.
He does come with a fair amount of accessories, sort of. You get a pair of fists that are made out of silver plastic so they marble.
He comes with an "evil" reaching hand which is essential for him.
He also comes with a gun holding hand and of course, the gun which stores on the holster on the right side of the belt. I didn't notice it since it already comes in the belt.
The classic head looks good! The eyes are boxy, the mouth is boxy, the overall look is very retro. The way the hood drapes is okay, I'm not the biggest fan of this one but I did get two! The other one is on his way.
I think it's a great figure but a couple effect pieces would have been nice. I do like the option for having two separate heads for two different looks.
He isn't the first modern Marvel Legends Dr. Doom, the first one was the Infamous Iron Man. This is obviously the better figure but that Iron Man body is great! I do like the look but the details on this one are so much better.
The Victor Von Doom head will fit on this body, it is a little tight.
As for other things that will fit on him are the lightning effects and even the blast effects that he has.
Under his shoes there's detailing for thrusters much like an Iron Man figure.
Articulation is good overall, except for the robe which does get in the way.
The main difference with this figure and most male bodies is the waist ball joint which works okay.
The ankles are also on a swivel instead of a boot swivel or lack thereof. He does scale well with the rest of the Fantastic Four but he'll look so much better with the Walgreens ones. One day!
He should be everyone, Target, Wal-Mart, GameStop, etc. for about $19-$24, it's a good deal, and if you can get two, even better. He's a great figure, and many people are customizing him to give him a cloth robe and cape. If you can do that, he'll be the absolute perfect figure. Happy hunting!
