Review: Thor: Ragnarok (2017)/Avengers: Infinity War (2018) - Marvel Legends Heimdall (Endgame Thor Wave)

Heimdall is a pretty cool character and Marvel Legends needed to have him in figure form since the first Thor movie came out. It's a shame it took this long for this character to get a figure, what is funny to me is that Hofund, his sword, was in Marvel Legends scale before this figure debuted. We'll get to that in a little bit. This figure is based on his appearance in Thor: Ragnarok, it doesn't matter what the box says since the only bit of him we see of him in Avengers: Infinity War is where he uses the Bifrost to send the Hulk back to earth, and then he is impaled by Thanos. He's one of the few newer figures, one that should have been with previous releases. I would have honestly favored him over the Grandmaster in the Ragnarok 2-pack with Korg. This slot could have gone to someone else.

You get the Infinity War logo which looks great.
Nice artwork on the side that also appears on the back. You have a shot of him using the sword.
"Guardian of the Bifrost Bridge, Heimdall uses his all-seeing eyes to protect Asgards at all costs.
You get one Heimdall, Hofund, and a leg.

 Heimdall

This looks to be a brand new sculpt and right off the bat, he looks pretty amazing. He does suffer from traffic cone syndrome because of his cloak which is a shame. I don't know if a cloth cape would have been better. Hofund does holster in the back where the hoodie is. The texture of his outfit is incredible, maybe a little too detailed but it does look good.
He does have a pretty uncanny resemblance to Idris Elba. I don't like how the hair is sculpted and honestly, facial hair rarely ever looks good in plastic form which is a shame. The paint apps on the eyes are quite good.
Hofund first came out in the Valkyrie and Thor 2-pack when Ragnarok was out, but no sign of Heimdall and who knows why Thor came with it. It made a second appearance with the Infinity War 3-pack with Thor, Teen Groot, and Rocket. The sword is huge, I didn't realize how big it actually was until I had him hold it, it's even too big for Thor.
Without the robe, there is additional detail. He has his pouches and straps around the torso.
He also has two additional scars, one on the right bicep.
Another on the lower left torso, probably from his battle with Corvus Glaive.
With how thin he is... it does bother me a little but it's not an issue when the cloak is being worn. The issue arises if he doesn't have it on. He also doesn't seem to stand straight, the lack of a waist swivel is a little upsetting.
Thankfully he can hold with both hands. He has an up and down hinge on the left wrist, side to side on the right, and of course the swivel.
Double hinged elbows and knees. Hinge and swivel on the shoulders.
Ball jointed hips, thigh and bicep swivel. Ankle rocker and forward and back movement.
Hinge at the base of the neck, and a ball joint which allows for more range. With the way the hair is sculpted, you get a bit more than I expected.
He's shorter than Hela, which I guess also okay. Well... not really, Cate Blanchett is 5'9" which is pretty tall, but Idris Elba is 6'2" which isn't a huge difference.
Shorter than both Thanos and Thor, who is really about an inch taller. Combined with how skinny he is, he looks weak and frail which is sad.
Since he is new, and a new character he might be hard to find. $19.99 at most places, $22.99 at GameStop, and $18.95, or $16.85 if you get them on rollback. I do like this figure I just don't agree with some of the sculpting choices they made. He's not perfect by any means but he does fill in for your shelf. Happy Hunting!
