Review: Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) - Spider-Man & Iron Man Mark

This is the last of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man figures, actually, there's the Iron Spider from the Infinity War 80th Anniversary 2-pack so, second to last! I first saw this at a TJ Maxx a couple years ago for about $20 and... I didn't get it, and I have regretted it ever since. This was on Amazon for about $40 bucks and I didn't get it, then after Spider-Man: Far From Home the price went up to $60 so I wasn't getting it. I almost caved until comradd_figsrus from instagram had some items on sale. He was selling this set, the War Machine 2-Pack, and a Dormammu wave MCU Doctor Strange, all for $140 which honestly is a pretty good deal in my opinion, especially with that Doctor Strange. Payment was easy and shipping was fast so I was incredibly pleased.

Everything is visible from the window of the packaging. You have the Spider-Man: Homecoming logo in the front.

Spider-Man

This Spider-Man is identical to the one from the Vulture wave, although it doesn't have additional hands which makes me sad. The colors are a little brighter on this one and I thought the swivel on the waist was stuck on my other one and nope, this one is exactly the same so I guess it's not supposed to swivel? There is one major difference with this figure.
The eyes on this one are crazy eyes! Which is strange, I feel like the right eye wasn't painted all the way, it's sculpted like the squinty eyed head sculpt from the other figure in the Vulture wave. It's supposed to be that one scene where his mask isn't working properly on his way to catch the van.
His hands are one fist and a twippy hand.
It does allow for some poses but I would have preferred more sets of hands! Especially for a figure that we already have. Maybe some wall crawling hands y'know.
The web wings are also included but without a pair of fists it just looks a little weird.
The main draw for this set was the unmasked head. It doesn't look all that much like Tom Holland, I guess I do see it, maybe the slightest resemblance but not perfect.
It is a tight fit and doesn't really work on any of the other bodies, I wanted it for the Homemade Suit but the neck is too long...

Iron Man Sentry (Mark 47)

This figure is a repaint of the Mark 46 armor from the Civil War waves, I do like the colors on this specific figure. I think this is one of the better Iron Man figures. The shoulder "pads" are nicely sculpted and are separate pieces, they don't get in the way of the articulation. The legs are incredibly hindered though which is the only downside I can think of.
The hemet is very angular in design, square, and a much better sculpt than the Mark L.
It just has a nice silhouette. The articulated wrists on the repulsor hands and a nice addition. He has one fist and one repulsor hand, no matching pairs unfortunately.
He does come with a single repulsor blast. An extra pair but in red or orange would have been nice for thruster effects.
If you do have extras you can put them on the feet.
The main draw was the additional head for the Sentry mode where Tony has the suit on auto-pilot or remote control. It's incredible and I love it. I'm tempted to get an additional Tony Stark head to cut out the face and stick in there. I love it so much, the faceplate is a separate piece, the downside to that is that it doesn't match the gold from the painted parts and it's marbled.
It's easy to put on, the detailing inside the helmet is nice although it makes you wonder if he could actually wear that helmet. It's not supposed to be realistic especially since it attaches via balljoint.
I love this set and with the two additional heads it allows for a lot more display options.
It's so much fun, you can use it as if he's telling Peter he isn't actually there.
Or that scene where he gets out of the suit.
It's the same height as the other suits, here's the 80th Anniversary 2-Pack Mark L and the Civil War 3-Pack Battle Damaged Mark XLVI.
Here is the Spider-Man with the one from the Vulture wave, I do like these colors a lot more but the other one has more accessories. The reds are close enough that it won't be hard to swap some pieces around.
Here's a comparison of the Tom Holland heads, the one from the 80th Anniversary 2-pack is much more accurate.
Here's the Tony Stark from the First Ten Years line.
I love this set, if you can find it, get it, despite there being a better Tom Holland head, it doesn't hurt to have two, especially when you get a great Iron Man figure with an amazing headsculpt. It should be available online but it won't be cheap. Happy hunting.
