Review: The Incredible Hulk - Marvel Legends Vintage Series Hulk San Diego Comic Con Exclusive

This was yet another item that I got through Hasbro Pulse, The Incredible Hulk! Which was a San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive that was available online in limited quantities. I did get the membership for $50 but ultimately it was worth it since I got a total of 5 items through them. The Marvel Exclusives were set to be sold on the 28th, I only managed to get the Collector and the Grandmaster 2-pack the first day and this one sold out before I could checkout. The following day, this was supposed to be out by 12:00, I tried to refresh the page for hours and almost gave up but once it was around 1:15-ish it was live and it was go time! I should have gotten two... either way I'm happy I got it, I do have the 80th Anniversary 2-pack one but this one has its own charm that we'll go over in a bit.

This figure gets a cool white box with art that is based on the figure. It also has the logo for "THE INCREDIBLE HULK" and the 80th Anniversary Logo at the top corner.
The back just has the logo for the Hulk.
There's more packaging for the Hulk once you get him out, he has the Vintage Series Marvel Legends box which looks incredible but is not collector friendly, it can stand on it's own because of a little nub that it was at the bottom of the bubble.
You can see the pipe hidden behind the Hulk, it's quite heavy which isn't surprising.
The back has a nice product shot as well as nice graphics, the 80th logo at the top and a little bio.

"Fueled by his anger and powered by gamma radiation, Bruce Banner transforms into the super-strong Hulk, smashing through anyone in his way."

This is a brand new body and it looks incredible, a very muscular body with sculpted veins. He's very square but I think it works. The body is a darker shade of green with the veins painted, the toenails and fingernails are also painted with a different shade of green.
The pants are ripped and they have a nice denim texture with a nice wash throughout. They're purple of course and the ripped portions have a nice white dry-brush which just add to the figure in my opinion. The way his pants are sculpted looks as if those pants are way too tight for him... which is totally the case. The pockets, zipper, seams, and all of the anatomy of the denim jeans are there.
The head has a screaming hulk with black eyeshadow. It doesn't really bother me, what does bother me is the darker green mouth but what can you do? I'm sure having a pink tongue would have just looked weirder. The little tuft of hair with the fade on the sides looks good, not my favorite hairstyle but y'know. I do like the expression they have him, a separate head would have been appreciated though, this head works for very dynamic poses.
He doesn't come with alternate lims, he has a closed fist for the left hand which has his nails painted green.
A grasping hand which is made to grasp things in order to wave them around through the air.
Despite how bulky he is he is really articulated and is the best comic Hulk I own but to be honest, it's not very hard to beat the Diamond Select Hulk.
The 80th Anniversary 2-Pack version does come with additional hands, two sets actually.
I don't know why this one didn't it's a missed opportunity, especially for an exclusive figure.
To be fair, the Vintage Series figures didn't really have alternate sets of hands with a few exceptions, the Scarlet Spider and the Black Panther.
The grabby hand is meant for the pipe! But as you saw he can also get a good grasp on a leg or most appendages.
Putting in the pipe is a little tricky, the fingers are soft so they fold too easily and don't want to wrap around the pipe, once he's got a good grasp it's in there.
The pipe is nicely detailed however, it looks a little out of place, where'd he get the pipe from?
It has a nice dull grey finish with a black wash to bring out the textured detail.
He's got a dumbell jointed head which attaches at the base of the bead and top of the neck like most heads do.
Shoulder hinge and swivel, and I think the hips are too. Single jointed elbows which is a little disappointing since it would have been easy to do.
Hinged wrists and swivel at the pin where it goes into the forearm. Swivel at the hip, ball jointed diaphragm which works amazingly well!
Double jointed knees, swivel at the bicep and thigh.
Forward facing pin for the ankle rocker and a hinge for dorsiflexion and plantarflexion.
The best part about this Hulk is the fact that he has butterfly shoulders, seriously, I don't know who had that genius idea but it just adds so much character to this figure. It only goes back, not forward but still! Hopefully they can figure out how to extend that range later on.
He is so much taller than the average 6" inch Avenger. He's perfectly in scale in my opinion.
Much taller than Thor and obviously taller than the Black Widow.
I do wish the Thanos was a lot bigger, but I think this works, Thanos isn't much taller than Thor.
Compared to the Diamond Select Hulk he's smaller but obviously the superior figure, seriously, the head sculpt, proportions, and articulation are so much better. I'm happy to replace that figure.
He's about the same size as the Endgame Hulk but you can clearly see the differences in design from the comic and the "live-action" Hulk. Despite being the same height, the Comic Hulk looks massive compared to Professor Hulk.
For the price of about $35 bucks, it's a pretty good deal, much bigger than the average Marvel Legends, and nice packaging (despite it not being collector friendly) it's a super nice figure. The problem is that it's a Con Exclusive so getting it for that price is impossible. I would say anything around $80 is pretty good. Happy Hunting!
