Review: Spider-Man: Far From Home - Marvel Legends Mysterio // Spider-Man (Red and Black Suit) Molten Man Build-a-Figure Wave)

Mysterio was such an interesting character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially considering the history of the character in the comics. Spider-Man also sports a brand new suit in the movie which is okay, not a super fan of it but it's not a drastic change unlike the suit from The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) with Andrew Garfield... seriously, I hated that suit. Considering it's almost halfway through August and this movie has been out for over a month there's going to be a lot of things spoiled so be warned. Let's get to it!

Mysterio

Basic Far From Home logo and the character's name.
The concept art of Mysterio on the side and it looks amazing. Nothing too crazy just the usual Marvel Legends packaging. You can see he comes with the left leg of Molten Man.
The back of the box shows the render of the suit which is identical of the one in the back as well as a short bio on the character and the rest of the line with an assembled Molten Man.
"The Master Illusionist Mysterio battles his foe Spider-Man using his wits and the technology embedded in his suit."
Woah, I'm kind of glad I didn't read the bio until now. If you haven't watched it I warn you that I'm about to drop some spoilers. Mysterio claimed to be from another dimension which opened after Thanos, Hulk, and Iron Man snapped their fingers. With that Molten Man was brought to Peter's world and if he isn't stopped, the Earth they're in will meet the same fate that his planet suffered. Mysterio ends up "sacrificing" himself but thankfully he survives. Eventually it's revealed that it was all a ruse, Mysterio was using holograms and drones in order to make it seem like the elemental monsters were actually attacking. I had a feeling he'd be bad but the trailers sold him as another good guy. This would have spoiled that, woah.
Out of the box he comes with a total of two pairs of hands, and a left leg.
The overall design of the suit is amazing, it's full of intricate little details and a pretty impressive color palate. The suit design is very different from the comic version of Mysterio who just wore a green jumpsuit with a square pattern throughout. It does keep the classic gauntlets and the cape has a printed design in the back.

The back of it also has some sculpted details which you wouldn't expect and small paint apps of the diamonds.

The cape is held on by a cape in the back and you can see they didn't skimp out on detailing his back. I'm surprised how close it looks to his comic counterpart. The fishbowl head has some glitter specs which are fun but it's a little sad he didn't come with a Jake Gyllenhaal head. I wish it had a more translucent kind of effect like it does in the concept art but that's okay. The eyes on the cape look great, the one of the right is chipped which I thought was an error but the basic figure was the same.
He comes with a pair of fists which have the basic hinge joint and a swivel at the peg.
A pair of open hands which is essential to any mysterio pose especially if you want him to look maniacal. Same kind of articulation as the fists.
Unfortunately he doesn't come with effect pieces but the basic mysterio figure does.
However because he doesn't have grabby hands you have to fit the fingers in between the small gaps in the effect and hope that the friction keeps it from falling down. It does help a lot, I just wish he had more specifically made for this figure.
He does scale pretty well with Night Monkey and I think they look great working with one another. I also like the Ball joint on the diaphragm instead of the ab crunch, it works and looks much better.
But they cannot for Mysterio is actually a villain, and they almost sold it. I was almost convinced that they turned him good but it turns out that Quentin Beck was a former Stark employee that developed B.A.R.F. from Captain America: Civil War (2015), he was eventually fired for being crazy.
Eventually he developed the persona of "Mysterio" and he had nothing against Peter until he discovered his secret. Then he had to kill him, and after an impressive sequence of Mysterio's holograms, Night Monkey is defeated.
That was the best part of the movie, seriously, I couldn't believe what had happened and it was like the comic books or TV shows came to life.
Especially how he defeated Spider-Man, truly the Master of Illusions.
A couple of accessories would have been perfect with Mysterio, a Quentin Beck head, some smoke effects or even his rays that he shoots from his hands would have been appreciated especially for the Master Illusionist that he is.
Thankfully the effect pieces from the comic figure will fit him nicely although the tentacles are a little out of place in my opinion.

Spider-Man

Pictures of the suit had leaked months before Avengers: Endgame came out and I wasn't too impressed, I liked the fist Tech Suit that he received from Tony Stark. Even the Iron Spider suit would have been a good fit, but you know how it is; new movie, new suit, new merchandise.
It has a good shot of the render on the side with a blue background.
A very different shot used in the back and as you can see he doesn't come with a BAF piece which should have been a great reason to give him more accessories but he doesn't and that sucks.
"Peter Parker continues his adventures as the web-slinging Super Hero, Spider-Man."
After he had been saved by Happy he made his suit using the Stark Technology in a very Iron Man (2008) montage and it was amazing.
Seeing him in the tray with just a pair of twipping hands is upsetting but c'est la vie.
The suit is basic Spider-Man, it resembles the Iron Spider sculpt more than the Homecoming one which I'm okay with, unfortunately the web pattern isn't painted but thankfully it is sculpted so you can give it a wash and it'll look much better.
The spider logo does look cool, especially the one in the back. A cool set of accessories would have been the parachute or the web gliders much like the Homecoming figure had.
The head looks almost identical to the one used for the Iron Spider. Not very different but it looks very Spider-Man so that's good.
He comes with a pair of grabby hands but no web. They do look a little small, I would have preferred fists but at least he can hold the web.
A pair of twipping hands, I'm not so sure I like the red fingers with the black hand.
Because of the butterfly joint at the shoulders you get some really dynamic poses any Spider-Man should pull off.
It's not much different in size from the Iron Spider and Night Monkey, he does look like he's in the middle.
Mysterio is about half a head taller than both Spider-Men which works.
Tech Suit Spidey is shorter and Homemade suit Spidey is half a head taller which doesn't make sense.
Mysterio is still taller than both which is good.
Iron Man Mark L is taller than both.
You can see the similarities between this and the comic figure. At one point he just wears the green jumpsuit after the holograms disappear and I loved that, it was a nice call back to the classic design.
I still think the basic figure looks a little better than this Marvel Legends. It's still a nice figure.
You can also see some differences between the basic figure and the Marvel Legends, the basic figure looks much more metallic.
I don't know what will be of Phase 4 of the MCU, I'm very excited to see what will happen especially with the lineup that was announced at the Comic-Con.
I still have to go watch it again but I'm not sure what is a good time, and I wonder if it will be better watching it the second time around.
I thought the romance developed between Peter and MJ was believable, they have good chemistry and it works considering they're both socially awkward.
They're still fairly new but they're not showing up as much as I'd like, I saw them a couple times at Wal-Mart and Target but mostly Walgreens and GameStop. The price range is about $18.95-$22.99 and the hardest to find might be Night Monkey honestly. I loved this set and I had so much fun taking the pictures. Good luck hunting.
