Review: Black Panther (2018) - Marvel Legends Shuri (Avengers: Endgame Hulk Build-a-Figure)

So the first figure I found for the new Avengers: Endgame "Smart" Hulk wave was Shuri at a GameStop by herself and I'm not the only one. According to the website, Shuri was released on 6/2, so last week. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the wave at Target or Wal-Mart because anything at GameStop is more expensive. I have been waiting for this figure for so long ever since it was hinted at last year and I have completed my Black Panther movie Marvel Legends, I can finally get rid of my Basic Shuri from the Black Panther (2018) wave (just kidding I still like that figure). Seriously, I had been looking for an alternative because I was surprised she wasn't released in the M'Baku wave with the other figures from the movie. Still, I'm glad I have her now and let's get to it.

The box is the usual, figure, accessories and BAF piece. This is also the Black Panther (2018) version of the character not the Endgame one which is interesting to me since the two outfits look identical to me. Maybe it's shade difference?
You get some nice artwork of the character on the side of the box.
And another nice action shot of Shuri using her Panther Gauntlets.

"The Mastermind behind some of Wakanda's most advanced technologies. Shuri design and distributes Vibranium-powered gear to Wakanda's greatest warriors and allies."
You also get to see who else in this line. I'm mostly interested in MCU figures because of my love of Tokusatsu. Yes I do consider live action comic book movies Tokusatsu.
Out of the box you get one left leg, two gauntlets and one Shuri. Unfortunately for me, she has a bow legged stance which I'm sure I can fix but I'm too lazy to do so right now. Thankfully she looks much much better than the basic figure. The detailing on her outfit is incredible.
The "skirt" piece is made out of a soft material and it kind of looks out of place with the rest of her. She has one grabby hand and a closed fist which she should have come with a pair of one or the other if you ask me.
The head does looks like Letitia Wright, unfortunately for the head she's missing the little braid that dangles from her hair but at least it's a vast improvement from the basic figure. I did just notice something that will forever bother me. The little jaw piece of her uniform isn't included on the headsculpt for some reason. Why? Ahhhh!
The gauntlets have a very loose fit which is pretty annoying. They have an attached effect piece that is not removable which takes away a relaxed pose option since they're always active.
The big gab at the bottom is an eyesore, I'm sure there were betters way of doing the gauntlets.
The detail on them is very good though, they do look kind of plain.
It's a pretty good figure but yeah, the permanent effect parts are eh. It would have been nice for them to be removable but what can you do. I might get another one to customize.
I can't really think of many poses for Shuri that aren't with her shooting her gauntlets.
Thankfully her sculpt doesn't restrict her shoulders and she's able to aim both of her gauntlets out. This is where the effect part shines, it just adds more character to the figure.
She's also a good addition to the Black Panther movie figures.
Articulation is as follows, ball and hinge for the head. The shoulders and hips are on a hinge and swivel. Elbows are single jointed but go past 90 degrees. Knees are double jointed. Ankle hinge and forward facing pin for the ankle rocker.
The diaphragm is on a ball joint which gives her a really nice range of motion.
I can't tell you how excited I was for this figure, and after she wasn't in the M'Baku I thought she would be cancelled.
Her being in Endgame still gave me hopes that she would show up in figure form.
Still as nice as this figure is there are some things that just don't feel right. The gauntlets are wonky and because the arms are so thin they fit very loosely or they'll just fall off. The lack of the jaw piece of her uniform is also unfortunate since it's a big part of her design. Even the little braid piece that dangles isn't there, it doesn't seem like a hard part to put into the figure.
She's a little smaller than the average female comic figure. Here she is with the Shuri from the 2-pack with Klaw.
She's half a head taller than her basic figure and as you can see it's a huge improvement. The gauntlets on this figure are smaller surprisingly enough.
She's looks good next to Nakia and Ross. Lupita Nyong'o is 5'5", Martin Freeman is 5'7" and Letitia Wright is 5'6" so this isn't accurate but who cares. Maybe it's the bow legged stance?
She's shorter than Erik Killmonger and way smaller than M'Baku who is the tallest of the Black Panther movie figures.
Next to Okoye and her brother T'Challa she fits in nicely.
A nice addition to the Black Panther family, I can't think of who else from this movie they could have, maybe some other Wakandan soldiers? Until 6/23 she'll be the only available, afterwards the whole line is up for grabs. Best of luck, happy hunting!
