Used Review: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - Evil Space Aliens 8" King Sphinx

I have wanted a King Sphinx for years now and so I looked on eBay and got one for a relatively cheap price which was $15.99. It was a good deal, no box, and in a decent condition. I watched Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger way back when and I loved it, everything about it. The soundtrack, the costumes, the story. I also watched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and I still have a lot of Nostalgia for it. King Sphinx's design stood out to me because of the Egyptian theme as well as the fact that he looks way too similar to Goldar. This was part of the Mighty Morphin Evil Space Aliens line and it was produced by Bandai America because Bandai Japan rarely ever does villains. Anyway, let's get to it.

He, like most of Rita's monsters, is made out of clay and you can see it in the look and texture of the suit and figure. There's some hieroglyphics on his loincloth and throughout his body. The tail is textured and the tail is a little darker than the rest of the body.
The Name, or the headdress, is sculpted and painted with a blue stripe pattern. There is a cobra at the top. The face is very doglike, the teeth are painted and sculpted. The eyes are painted red.
The false beard is sculpted to the rest of the upper torso.
The whole figure is made out of a hard vinyl and it has very little articulation. To think of it, he looks a lot like King Caesar.
The hands are not symmetrical, by that I mean is that both arms are solid pieces that connect to the body through the shoulder but they have different fixed positions.  His waist is on a swivel but barely rotates or even turns slightly.
The hips have a weird diagonal cut so if you have his legs go forward, the toe will turn outward.
And the figure itself compared to most Ranger figures is pretty imposing.
He hands at a solid 8" tall which is taller than most of your Bandai Rangers.
If you have the Legacy Collection 6.5" Rangers they'll fit in with the figure.
He also fits in with the Guardian Beast Tyrannosaurus Vinyl from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger.
He does not scale well at all with the Legacy Megazord, I was hoping it'd be a little closer at least but that's not happening.
He's a head taller than the Red Ranger, which is usually the case considering how much bulkier those suits are compared to the Ranger suits.
He's actually in perfect scale with the Guardian Beast Tyrannosaurus Vinyl.
And putting them side by side here makes me sad because he never have villains for the Megazords to fight against.
In the end, it's a great figure and I'm proud to have it in my collection. He should be fairly easy to find for a fair price online if you look hard enough. I'm going to try to get my hands on Goldar next. Happy Hunting!
