Review: Power Rangers (Super) Ninja Steel - 5" Red, Blue, Yellow, White, Pink Action Heroes

Power Rangers Ninja Steel or Super Steel is the 24th and 25th season for the Power Rangers franchise based on Super Sentai's 34th season Shuriken Sentai Ninninger. I've just recently started watching the show and so far, it's okay. Not the best season in my opinion based on the 3-4 episodes that I watched. It seems very kiddie, and not in the best of ways. The acting is eh and the lessons in the show are executed in a very lazy way. As for Ninninger, I loved that season, it was a lot better than I thought it would be. The theme song for Ninja Steel is pretty nice, you do have Japanese instruments mixed in. Also, Victor Vincent and Monty are really annoying characters.

Power of the Ninja! Ninja Steel Red!
The Red Ranger is Brody! He was kidnapped by Galvanax, Ripcon and Madame Odius after his father disappeared while protecting the Ninja Nexus Prism. 10 years later he escapes Galvanax's ship and finds the other rangers. Brody is the second Red Ninja Steel Ranger, the first one being his dad. In Ninninger he is Takaharu Igasaki, one of my favorite Red Rangers from Super Sentai. You can also get this figure with the Good vs. Evil two pack with Ripcon and the Epic and Mighty Hero sets.
Stealth of a Ninja! Ninja Steel Blue!
The Blue Ranger is Preston! He is the school's magician, and he is one of the first 3 to transform into the Ninja Steel Rangers. He's pretty cool I guess, I can't really come up with much to say about him but he did cut Monty in half which was pretty funny. That was the 4th episode? Where he had to learn not to use his new powers for personal gain. In Ninninger, Yakumo was a serious and funny character, coming from England where his teacher Magi Yellow taught him magic. You can get this figure with the Good vs. Evil pack along with Ripperrat and the Epic and Mighty Hero sets.
Strength of a Ninja! Ninja Steel Yellow!
Clavin is the Yellow Ninja Steel Ranger! He is really into cars! Or at least his truck... I don't know much about him yet but we'll see. In Ninninger he was Nagi, one of the two youngest ones of the team. You can get this figure in the Good vs. Evil pack with Spinferno and the Epic and Mighty Hero sets.
Spirit on a Ninja! Ninja Steel White!
Hayley is the White Ranger! She is in a relationship with Calvin and she has a dog who's name is Kodi which is with her in the show sometimes. She is the only with different borders than the rest of the rangers. In Ninninger, Fuuka was Takaharu's younger sister. And all of the Ninningers were related and trying to take the title of the Last Ninja! You can only get her individually or in the Mighty Hero Set but not the Mighty Hero Set.
Speed on a Ninja! Ninja Steel Pink!
The Pink Ranger is Sarah! Who is a transfer student who came in the first episode, she crashed into Preston with her Zoom hover thingy and together along with Brody they were the first ones to transform in the first episode. In Ninninger, Kasumi was the most intelligent of the bunch, along with Yakumo. I didn't know I followed her actress until I watched Ninninger which was 2 years after the show came out! You can get her in both the Mighty and Epic Hero Sets.
In the main line you get 5 standard 5 inch rangers, they all come with different paint, well, "different." Red, Blue and Yellow have a black sash with white trim, black sleeves with a black undershirt. The cuffs on the boots are black. White and Pink have a black sash, White has a pink trim and Pink has a white trim. They both have a black undershirt, and black sleeves. The cuffs on their boots are black and the thigh highs are painted white. The thigh highs are actually pretty cool, the female Ninja or Kunoichi (γγƒŽδΈ€) influenced design was clever.
The guys have the same mold, very similar to the Super Megaforce and Dino Charge figures with some differences. The arm and the undershirt are textured much like the Ninja Storm Red Ranger.
The side show the Element Power Star on the right side and the Yellow or Pink Power star on the left. They're not individually painted but they are gold. The belt is nicely detailed in the front and the back. The gloves have a pad that is there but not painted. And the paint and the white continue onto the leg but not on the back. The Black sash and the belt are painted in the back. There is detailing and sculpting for the sash on the leg but's not painted with their individual colors.
It's in the middle size wise. The figure and the proportions are better in my opinion but the head does feel smaller. The boots are also no longer Sentai boots which the others did have.
For the girls they have a thin frame and it's quite different from the Dino Charge and Super Megaforce figures, they don't have the pointy tip on the skirt due to the MMPR mold. The skirt has a slit on the side which isn't too distracting. The sash is painted and the detailing continues on the side of the skirt but it doesn't have their color on the skirt part like they should. They also have thigh highs and the cuff on the boot is lower.
They have the Element Power Star, and the Pink's Power Star. They're gold much like the belt. The arm and undershirt is textured.
As for the female bodies, the Ninja Steel mold is an improvement, the skirt looks a lot better and articulation isn't limited by a solid skirt piece. The hands on the other hand (haha) are goofy looking and still small. They can barely hold onto the sword.
The helmets are all each really nice! The design in based on their individual power stars and white is the only one with a pink border instead of silver, she is however missing the thinner silver border on the visor.
They all have the Ninja Shuriken logo on the side of the helmet. The Helmet and neck are two different pieces.
They all come with the same accessory. The Ninja Star Blade is nicely detailed, all over but has no paint. If you wanted to paint it, it's possible or even if you wanted to make stickers (rather tiny stickers) it's possible. it's made out of soft plastic so it bends out of shape easily. It goes in the hand pretty well.
Depending on how you get this figure, you get the Ninja Steel Morpher in Claw and Sword mode if you get the Mighty Hero Set or the Epic Hero Set. It has a handle for the rangers to hold the weapon and the detail is there. It doesn't have the Kanji for any of the modes and unfortunately, it doesn't come with the bow mode. Another weapon that would have been nice to have would be the Ninja Blaster.
Articulation is pretty basic for a 5" figure, it's been the same since Super Megaforce, it is slightly limited due to the sculpt on the shoulders. It has a swivel at the neck. The shoulders and hips rotate forward and back, go in and out. The knees and elbows bend and the boots, cuffs and wrists rotate. Why the cuffs and wrists? I have no idea, honestly but that's the way it is, and if the cuff is oriented in a weird fashion then the forearm looks weird. The girls are slightly hindered by the skirt but it's not as bad as it was before with the solid one piece skirt.
Overall, I'm not really disappointed with these figures, they could be used for display as your Ninja Steel Rangers or Ninningers, it's really up to you. With this season having multiple villains released as figures. You should still be able to find this figure with the Super Ninja Steel box or the Epic Hero Pack if you can find it. they're about $9-$10 give or take. It would have been nice to have a couple more accessories like the Blaster or the Morpher in different modes for the standard release. They're also compatible with the Megazord! Which I'll review eventually so stay tuned.
