Review: Power Ranger (Super) Ninja Steel - Deluxe Ninja Steel Megazord

I thought I had already written this one out and had it ready to be published earlier today but it seems I was wrong! What is weird is that the megazord itself doesn't appear until episode 3. Episode 1 just had Red, Blue and Pink rangers with original footage. Episode two just used the first part of episode 1 of Ninninger. It used to Zord fight with an awkward edit to destroy Ripperat, and it used the rest of the episode for Trapsaw in episode 10 (?). And in episode 3 after destroying Spinferno, Cosmo sends out a Skullgator for the rangers to fight. They initially fight them with their zord but are unsuccessful so they combine their zords to create the Megazord!

Despite the mainly negative reviews I've seen, this is probably one of the best Bandai of America Megazords that I own. Even if they did cut corners, they have the detail that needs to be there and as a combined Mecha and individually, they look acceptable. I don't own Shurikenjin so I don't have anything to compare it to. No bias here! well... maybe just a little.

Robo-Red Zord

Robo-Red Zord is probably one of my favorite individual Zords, I like the colors and the design overall. The chest piece is a nice gold color, the head is nicely detailed and painted, but the legs aren't painted gold or red when they need to be. There is also a fist in between his legs.
If you want to customize him, you can, all the detail is there. He is about slightly over 3" tall and he'll fit right in 5" villains since in the show he is shorter. His head is very small...

Dragonzord

Not the cool one... Dragonzord is really cool, however he did loose a lot of moving parts in the transition, but he doesn't look terrible admittedly. His wings don't separate, but they do unplug from the back.

You have to attach them to the tail if you want to place them on his back.
The gold in the tail isn't there and the feet are no longer blue but everything else that needs to be there is there. The fist in the butt, doesn't hide anymore though... Good scaling though.

Nitro Zord

Nitro Zord is another one that lost a lot of moving parts. The "hood" is molded in place and doesn't go over the engine or "arm." The pedals are one whole piece and the fist doesn't hide. Some pieces of gold and yellow detail are nonexistent.

The hip is also molded in place and the tires look odd...

Kodiak Zord

Kodiak Zord also lost moving legs and a working jaw. The hood of the Ninja dog isn't painted anymore... He's just a statue at this point, even in Ninninger he didn't have much of a point...

Detail is there and it's good! You can do a nice wash in order get the details to pop!

Zoom Zord

It's two pieces and it's very long. Most of the paint is there minus the gold which is one of the most important parts! It has the details of the Pink Shuriken and the white on the White half of the Zord.

They aren't one piece anymore and they plug in, not very securely. It just looks awkward, not sure why they decided to go this route.

It's not as long as it could be if they didn't give the hip piece to the Nitro Zord, the Kodiak zord can still fit in it, but doesn't clip into place.

Robo Red Zord Star

It also comes with the Robo Red Zord Star which becomes the helmet, it doesn't have a spinny gimmick or sounds or stickers and that is okay! It has all of the detail it needs.
It's pretty plain and it wouldn't have hurt to just have the sticker on it.

Ninja Steel Megazord

Transforming is fairly easy, you just have to take it apart and put it back together, it's pretty self explanatory.
The legs unplug from each other and plug on the Nitro Zord, Dragonzord comes apart and the Kodiak Zord fits comfortably inside the Zoom Zord.
Fit Robo Red Zord inside, have him sit down and grip on the handles.
Just plug in the helmet and let the mask come down.

And you have a big mess! It does look pretty cool! (at least to me)
Detail is average, he looks sleek and like a brike, more like a sleek brick.
For a Megazord, he is very articulated, his knees bend and his hips go forwards and back.
Together it is one of my favorite mecha, despite the obvious lack of paint.
It also doesn't go with the 5" figures.
at all...
There is also another mode!

Have the dragonzord sit inside, but he has no helmet and the wings are too close...
The helmet isn't the same, and there isn't a plug or another Shuriken to wear as the dragon helmet. It just doesn't look very good, I wish it did, but they couldn't...
As advertised in the box, all of the 5" figures fit inside the Megazord.
The Rangers at least...
Robo Red Zord looks really good in it!
The 5" armored Dragon Zord can sit in and fill in for the DX one, and honestly, it just looks better.
Put them together and you'll recreate the finisher!
I had two reasons for getting this Megazord:
Was it worth it??? Of course, it's only $30 and it's cheaper than Shurikenjin (which I'll get one day!) For what it is, it's worth it for me. It's also Zord builder compatible but I didn't have time to take more pictures so that'll be for another time. You can attach other pieces from Zord builder to create a funky thing... I can explain... just not now.
