Review: Power Rangers Ninja Steel - Armored Robo-Red Zord

Ninja Steel Zords! Out of the shadows!
Robo Red Zord! Who's design I'm a big fan of. Otomonin Shinobimaru was a funny fella, he had more of a personality in Ninninger, however! In Ninja Steel he was shrunken and remolded! Yes! They repurposed the suit and turned it into an Alpha 5 or DATAS type character. It uses pretty much, most of the suit minus the chest piece and the head (There might be more). It's disappointing that Redbot wasn't a figure in the 5" line but this is good enough. While I didn't get Robo Red Zord for being Redbot, I got him because I wanted an articulated version of the Robo Red Zord from the Megazord that doesn't have a fist between the legs.
Whoever put him in the package at amazon damaged the toy packaging...

The figure itself is really nice, I'm surprised in the amount of detail they kept from the figure and the suit. Especially the port in the back that doesn't work on the Megazord. It is missing a lot of paint that the deluxe Zord is also missing but the detail is there, you're free to customize it. The red knees are separate pieces.
Robo Red Zord has a lot of articulation throughout all of the body, it might be more articulated than the 5" figures, the legs aren't restricted at much and it can also kneel, you can recreate that scene from the show when Redbot asks Hayley to dance with him. She was kinda mean in that episode thinking that Redbot didn't have feelings because he's a Robot. Eventually he ended up saving her and once they defeated the monster she danced with him.
Elbows and Knees are on a hinge, hips and shoulders are on a swivel and they go out. The right shoulder clicks or ratchets when you move it. Wrists and ankles are both on a swivel. And the waist is slightly articulated due to the gimmick... Yeah, it wasn't a waist swivel, I wish...
It's an action feature, if you move the waist the hand will move forward, it's inconvenient when you want to pose him since his shoulder won't move freely. It clicks into place and it makes me not want to move it.
Admittedly, the gimmick is fun since you can pretend punch the baddies!
It did come with an accessory, or accessories... A Shuriken and a chest piece, sword, boomerang thing. It's part of a line that consists of Red, Blue, White, Dragonzord and Rumble Tusk Zord where you put on the armor along with additional gimmicks. The Rangers are the Master Mode ones and maybe I'll take a look at them later.

The boomerang can be held but the peg doesn't fit in the hole of the forearm but it does fit in one of the many holes on the Shuriken.
The Shuriken clips on the forearm, it fits nicely in the hole. It's heavy so it can't really pose with it.
It's also hard to keep it in place when you use the gimmick.
Armor clips or slaps on and it'll fold automatically or manually. You secure the armor with a peg in the back that attaches to a hole in Robo Red Zord's lower back.
I guess it looks cool, it's kind of unnecessary and it would have been better if he was released as a regular 5" figure. The Shuriken is also based on the Red Ranger's Power Star.
The Boomerang can still be held and the gimmick isn't restricted due to the angles on the Shuriken.
Suffering circuits!
As you saw earlier with the White Ranger, it is in scale with the 5" figures and it has better articulation in some aspects. Redbot might have not been released as a 5" figure but this makes a decent substitute if you don't mind the blatant inaccuracies.
Because it's in scale with the 5" Ninja Steel Rangers, he is in scale with the Villians, he should be shorter since he's just a Zord and not the Megazord.
Kabe Don!
You can recreate that Kabe don (壁ドン) pose from the first episode of Ninninger which is the funniest thing about that fight. I was curious how it was going to turn out in Ninja Steel and it was just a "Who's laughing now?!" which makes sense since the joke wouldn't translate.
It's one of my favorite figures, if not my number one favorite figure from the Ninja Steel line, I really wish he didn't have the gimmick though, it really messes with the articulation and the poseability which sucks. It still looks great with the other deluxe Zords. I got mine off of Amazon for about $3, you can find it on Ebay for a lot or at Toys R Us for about $15, but with a discount for about... $12? Those deals there are not the best right now. Either way, great figure, I love it!
